Spanish magazine Magazine de Fuera de Serie Photoshopped Michelle Obama’s face into “the iconic Portrait d’une négresse by French neoclassical painter Marie-Guillemine Benoist” for a cover photo, Gawker reported.

The photo is “accompanying an article entitled ‘Michelle Granddaughter of a Slave, Lady of America.'” The New York Daily News questioned if the photo was “artistic or offensive.”

Fuera de Serie’s Twitter account identifies it as a “supplement daily lifestyle” to Expansion, which News One reports is a Spanish newspaper.
