Ghana’s National Media Commission chairman, Ambassador Kabral Blay-Amihene, called for Ghana’s media to “give fair coverage to all parties” in the country’s upcoming election and to follow Ghana journalism ethics codes, according to a report on the Ghana government’s website by the Ghanaian Times.
Blay-Amihene also asked for journalists to fact check and to avoid propaganda.
He made his call during a National Media Commission-backed workshop that “the four state-owned media houses,” New Times Corporation, Graphic Communications Group Limited, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and the Ghana News Agency attended.
Another National Media Commission representative, member Akoto Ampaw, also advised the media avoid “sensationalism, misleading headlines and gross fabrications,” according to the Daily Graphic.
