The Sun’s associate editor Trevor Kavanagh weighed in on this past weekend’s arrests of five of his newspaper’s journalists in the UK investigation into police bribery. Kavanagh labeled the way “journalists are being treated” as “members of an organised crime gang” and questioned “who polices the police” during this investigation.
He defended the Sun’s journalists writing: “Nobody has been charged with any offence, still less tried or convicted. Yet all are now on open-ended police bail, their lives disrupted and their careers on hold and potentially ruined.”
Kavanagh noted that “it is absolutely right” for News Corp. to “cooperate” with the police during their investigations. See his column here.
