Tennessean Runs ‘Article’ by Hospital

The Nashville Tennessean ran an article from local hospital, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, the Nashville Scene reported.

The article in question was written by two former journalists who are now “information officers” at the hospital, but the story’s byline had the hospital’s name on it, according to the Nashville Scene.

Nashville Scene listed a host of questions about this arrangement and its effect on the newspaper including how regular a practice this will be, which hospitals will be included and, importantly,

“How will The Tennessean cover VUMC now that it’s using Vanderbilt Medical as a way to outsource content? Will the hospital receive the same amount of scrutiny if there is a problem or a lawsuit?”
