TheWrap’s Sharon Waxman criticized the Hollywood Reporter and accused the entertainment site of not crediting her site for “four recent TheWrap ‘exclusives,'” Media Bistro’s Fishbowl LA reported.
Waxman wrote in column for TheWrap that “it’s time to call out The Hollywood Reporter for stealing TheWrap’s scoops as their own and for failing to credit or link to us when they re-report our scoops.” Waxman added that her site won’t link to The Hollywood Reporter until it links back to theWrap.
Phillips reportedly defended the Hollywood Reporter and told Fishbowl LA that “we are careful to acknowledge original sources, even from small blogs, but only when they are factually accurate. If someone is looking for a way to drum up attention for herself, so be it. We wish them well.”
iMediaEthics wrote in April 2010 when Waxman sent a cease and desist letter to news summary website Newser. In that case, Waxman similarly alleged that Newser wasn’t giving enough credit and attribution to TheWrap.
