The UK Independent on Sunday, the Observer and the Mail on Sunday published “graphic photos of dead Syrian children” last week, the Guardian reported.
The Mail on Sunday editor John Mullin explained the newspaper decided to go against “the Press Complaints Commission (PCC) guidance on the potential intrusion into grief and shock,” because of their impact. According to the Guardian, “The PCC said it had received only one complaint about the pictures as published by the Mail on Sunday.”
Mullin noted that the photos were “on page three rather than on the front page to avoid distressing children.”
