Update: UConn Coach’s Daughter Alysa Auriemma Still Blogging about Team, but not for Courant?

iMediaEthics wrote last September when the Hartford Courant hired celebrity blogger to cover the winning University of Connecticut women’s basketball team, the Huskies.  But, the blogger paid by the Courant for her writings on the team ended up being Alysa Auriemma, the daughter of the coach.

See iMediaEthics’ two stories about the hiring here and here.  After the announcement’s fallout, the Courant denied it was a conflict of interest but changed its stance and said Auriemma wouldn’t be paid for her monthly blogs.

Auriemma now has her own website (here) on which she has two blogs — “Girl vs. Food” and “Life beyond the Postseason.”  In her “Life Beyond the Postseason” blog (here), she blogs about her father’s team. While search of the Courant’s website doesn’t produce her blogs, she is quoted in a recent column (here).

She states that she “is working on a series of fantasy fiction novels as well as a book of short autobiographical stories.” Auriemma also explained that she intended to enroll at the University of Connecticut this past fall for a master’s in English.  She continues to tweet (here) both personally and about the team and her father.
