The Wall Street Journal was hoaxed by fake Twitter account for author Joan Didion, Gawker reported.
The Journal’s July 11 story, “Joan Didion Tweets about Quitting Twitter” reported that the author said she was quitting Twitter.
But, as Gawker noted, that Twitter account, @JoanDidion, is a parody account.
The Wall Street Journal has since published a correction admitting that it was tricked. The story also now includes information from an e-mail interview with the person who runs the parody account.
